What's Your Purpose?

"The heart of human excellence often begins to beat when you discover a pursuit that absorbs you, frees you, challenges you, or gives you a sense of meaning, joy, or passion" - Terry Orlick

Life, with its' twists and turns, can often feel like an overly complex string of situations that can fly by in the blink of an eye without a moment to catch your breath and process the true meaning of why you're here. Stopping and smelling the roses is much easier said than done, but when taken the time to do so, it can rejuvenate and give a new appreciation for even the most mundane tasks.

When we first stepped foot on the path to where we are now over 6 months ago, the logistics of our business model lacked clarity, but we knew that we wanted to turn a commodity into an opportunity to connect people on a deeper level. From our farmers in Thailand to our supporters in the States, we are passionate about putting a face to each transaction and establishing a transparent understanding of what we do and how we do it from the crop to the cup.

About a month and a half ago we began asking people from around the country to share their purpose; share what absorbs them, frees them, challenges them, and gives them an overwhelming sense of joy and meaning. We've been receiving such amazing and inspiring responses that we wanted to further this mission of understanding others by inviting as many people as possible to share their purpose.

Within the next two weeks, we are going to be fulfilling orders and along with the coffee, you'll be receiving a card like the one pictured to the right. On one side there will be different information about our coffee's origin, the process the coffee goes through, and our philanthropic mission. On the back side, there will be a space where we encourage people to share their purpose with others. The instructions are simple:

  1. Write your purpose in as many or as few words as you'd like.
  2. Have someone take a picture of you holding the card like the ones pictured above or snap a selfie if you're feeling adventurous.
  3. Upload and share the picture on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter using #kjpurpose.

Help us further our mission of understanding others by sharing your purpose. We love our coffee, but we love our supporters and farmers even more, and we want to be able to showcase the amazing people that make this dream into a reality. So take some time, think about your purpose, and share it with the world.
